F. A. Q. s

Q. What if I don’t have a piano? Do you have a portable one? Does that cost extra?

A. I have a Yamaha P-125 digital piano that I’m happy to provide if your venue does not have a piano in house, and no I do not charge extra to bring it!

Q. I’m looking for a band to play at my wedding reception – do people hire you for that?

A. Yes and No. It depends on what kind of vibe you want at the reception. If it’s sit down dinner or cocktail hour and you’re looking for fresh background music / ambiance, then yes I’d be perfect! If you have a dance floor and want more of a party vibe, you should probably hire a full band instead.

Q. Do you have sound equipment or is that something I need to rent elsewhere?

A. For smaller indoor events my built-in piano speakers are enough. For moderate indoor and outdoor events I can provide a sound system which consists of two Harbinger speakers and a mixer. For larger outdoor events where more volume is desired, you’ll mostly like want to hire a DJ or sound engineer.

Q. Will you learn my/our favorite song?

A. If you have a specific song you’d like played at your event that isn’t on my song list I can definitely learn it, as long as your event is more than month out. If you have several songs you’d like me to learn, I’m open to it as long as I have enough time before your event.

Q. Do you charge extra for learning songs?

A. Yes, I charge $50/song which covers learning time and the cost of sheet music.

Q. Do you take requests in the moment?

A. Short answer: No. Long answer: Only sometimes. At private events like weddings the song list is preset, but at a more casual events, if there’s a song someone wants to hear and I know it comfortably then I’m happy to play it. But generally I’m not able to just play anything you want off the top of my head. (Lol someday maybe.)

Q. Do you also sing?

A. No, Sir/Ma’am.

Q. Do you require a deposit?

A. Yes, generally I require a deposit upfront for at least 1/2 the total job fee to book out the day. For weddings, the remaining balance is due no later than 1 month before the big day. For short-term bookings (less than 2 months out) the full amount is due upfront to reserve the day.

Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

A. I currently accept Paypal, Venmo, cash, or check.

Q. What is your refund /cancellation policy?

A. If you need to cancel or reschedule your event, I keep the initial deposit. It cannot be applied to the rescheduled event. The rescheduled event will need a new deposit. (For anyone needing further explanation on this point, booking out a day/time means I have to turn down other jobs for that day/time, which can really make a dent, especially during busy times like summer/wedding season.) HOWEVER, if for some unforeseen reason I’m the one who needs to cancel, which I’d only due to severe illness, injury, or a true emergency, I’ll immediately refund any/all payments. (Of course!)

Q. What if it’s raining? Can you still play if it’s an outdoor event?

A. Unless you can provide some kind of shelter, then no I cannot play in the rain – it will ruin my equipment. HOWEVER, if light rain or drizzle is forecast for your event I am able to provide a small canopy tent for an extra fee of $50.
